The International Watch Company has embarked on a new partnership with French Hollywood actor Jean Reno (of Godzilla fame) as its endorser in a short film presented at the SIHH watch fair conducted in Geneva. The watch fair and dinner hopes to reignite interest in International Watch Company Schaffhausen’s Portuguese Collection. The IWC Dinner held last January 19, 2010 at the glitzy Espace Secheron was attended by no less than football sensation Zinedine Zidane, best selling author and poet Paulo Coeho, actor Jean Reno himself, Boris Becker and Luis Figo. It was also attended by IWC’s business partners.
The motif of the cocktail set the mood for sailing and navigation. The ambiance at the said event was said to be relaxed and friendly with guest personalities co-mingling with IWC’s business partners. There were in total about 600 guests that attended the cocktail hosted by IWC.
The highlight of the social event was the presentation of IWC’s short film, “The Spirit of Navigation” which was starred by Jean Reno, Didier Flamand and produced by Condor films. The short film was a mystical tribute full of poetry dedicated to navigators, astronomers, philosophers and the development of various seafaring instruments such as the sextant, the compass, and of course watches.
The film delicately established the link between time keeping, in the form of their Portuguese line of watches and various navigational inspirations. The evening was capped by the performance of musician Nils Landgren and his band, “Funk Unit”.
